2000HP Lamborghini loses control and flies into a lake

0

This twin-turbo Lamborghini Gallardo looks like an animal. We are certainly surprised however at the lack of visible damage, although I’m sure the alignment and suspension is trashed. It is pretty crazy when you have too much power for extremely high performance tires on all 4 corners (Toyo R888s). This car seems to spin at almost every event.

And before anyone questions why there is a “lake” next to a dragstrip; it appears to be a water runoff resevoir off sorts to keep the runway dry for air traffic.

Here is the 2nd angle:

Also, this same car went off the track earlier this year:

2017 Ford GT: Behind-the-Scenes with Forza Motorsport 6

0

This video above shows an incredible insight into the development process of the new Ford GT, and how integrated the Forza Motorsport 6 design team is with Ford.

As you know, it has already been announced that the Ford GT will adorn the cover of Forza Motorsport 6.

Forza Motorsport 6 should be the XBox One title we were all waiting for when Forza 5 was released. Some would argue that Forza 5 was rushed out the door to be the launch date of the XBox One, and that explains the lack of content and features in the title.

The 2017 F-150 Raptor could be capable of over 600-HP

0

raptor_600hp

In the latest issue Top Gear BBC (Cars of the Year, 2014 Edition), it is being reported that the 2017 F-150 Raptor has been producing closer to 600HP with the new 3.5L EcoBoost (EcoBeast?) V6.

Now, we don’t expect Ford to release a 600-HP factory Raptor, but we are certain that Ford has been testing the capabilities of this truck – because they know the typical Raptor owner is not going to leave the truck stock. We imagine this truck will debut with 450-475 HP by the time it hits showrooms.

However, this high-horsepower number is interesting in a few regards. First, Ford never announced official HP numbers at the Detroit Auto Show. Second, the new 2017 Ford GT is also powered by the same 3.5L EcoBoost V6 that will be stuffed under the Raptor’s hood. Although official numbers have not been released for the 2017 Ford GT, we are told that we can expect ‘north of 600 HP’ for the Ford supercar.

Now, obviously we don’t think that the new Ford GT and Raptor will have the exact same motor with the exact same HP/TQ numbers, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Ford GT is actually closer to the 700 HP mark, and the Raptor may be the beneficiary of a de-tuned variant of that motor.

The most interesting point is that Ford knows that the Raptor enthusiasts are typical diehard V8 guys, and this new high-HP EcoBoost V6 may be Ford’s attempt to ‘win over’ the V8 crowd. Heck, even as upset as we are about the new Raptor not having a V8, a modified “600 HP” EcoBoost motor definitely sounds appealing to us.

Keep in mind that this new SVT F-150 Raptor will also be channeling all of that power through a 10-speed automatic transmission. And we can also expect high torque numbers considering that is a major selling and marketing point for the F-150 EcoBoost line.

Ford has certainly been pushing the EcoBoost family of engines on us lately. We are told this is part of a bigger effort to phase out the V8 motor altogether. As much as we will miss the V8, I am sure we can get used to a 600-HP Twin Turbo EcoBoost V6.

Welcome to the future.

Drag Race: Mercedes E63 AMG S ($104,325) vs Tesla Model S P85D ($105,670)

0

Both cars are pretty amazing, we’d pick the one with the 5.5L V8 Twin Turbo. Regardless, you can see that Tesla has geared the P85D perfectly. It has blistering acceleration, but tops out at about the 1000′ mark – because even in the performance car world, rarely does an owner push the top end of the car, and the Tesla isn’t exactly know for top-end performance. The torque curve is interesting in the Tesla as well. It spikes at about 850RWTQ @ 60MPH. If it could extend that power band to 100MPH, this car could easily run 10’s – which is just ridiculous, especially for a full-size electric vehicle.

Ford caught testing the new Shelby GT500 at Drag Strip

These pictures but is proof that Ford is hard at work on the upcoming SVT Cobra Shelby GT500 is under development, could crack 740+ HP”>Shelby GT500. The new GT500 will be focused on being a straight line, freeway-running rocketship – as oppose to the Shelby GT350 and GT350R being the road course slayers of the family.

We can’t wait to hear some real numbers for this car, but we expect this earth-rotating flagship Mustang to around the ‘700 HP’ mark. Even though that ‘700’ figure would be nice, we just don’t think the new GT500 will need that much HP to get the job done – especially considering how much lighter this car will be over the Hellcat Challenger. We also suspect that Ford may utilize a Twin Turbo 5.0 ‘Coyote’ motor. It’s no secret that Ford has been diliently testing a TT 5.0 Coyote for over a year now, and our guess is that it is being developed for the big-bruiser GT500.

We’re excited. Ford has already debuted the new GT350 and GT350R, so we hope to hear an official announcement by Summer ’15.

Ford releases teaser for all-new Focus RS, full reveal will be Feb. 3

0

The new Ford Focus RS is on the way, and Ford just released a teaser video ahead of it’s debut on February 3. This video shows the hatch sliding in the wet and dry during European and US testing, and now we are intrigued as to what this car is all about.

Speculation suggests that this new RS will be powered by a tuned 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder, estimated to make around 350 horsepower.

We are also hearing this car may have torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive, and the test mule teases us with much larger brakes. This car could cost $30,000, or more – but until the official numbers come out, we will just enjoy this teaser video.

Modified 2015 Corvette C7 Z06 street races 2014 Viper T/A (Video)

2015 Corvette Z06 mods:

  • Custom AFE Intake
  • ARH Headers
  • 2.4 Upper Pulley
  • Lashway Motorsports Tune
  • 661whp / 613rwtq
  • Manual Trans

2014 Viper T/A mods:

  • Intake
  • Full exhaust
  • Tune by Unleashed Tuning

We love the new C7 Z06, but GM should have used the ZR1 blower on the new Z06 instead of going with a smaller 1.7L, atleast in our opinion.  The new Z may be a track animal, but it’s been taking a beating lately on freeways runs, well, atleast on the internet.

To be honest, we were a little concerned when we saw 126-128mph traps for the C7Z from the magazines, but didn’t think much of it considering the car’s true purpose (road course) and it being supercharged (easy to mod).

But these results worry us. Not only will a bolt on C6Z run right with a stock C7Z, but a darn near full bolt-on, 661whp C7Z is getting pulled by a intake/exhaust 607whp Viper. There’s something wrong with these C7Zs, Gen V Vipers are not 500lbs lighter than C7Zs.

We never seriously considered the C7Z anyways, but at this rate it seems we’d be better off doing a H/C package on the C6Z and walking all C7Zs short of ones running a ported blower, ethanol or water/meth.

To rub salt in the wound, it turns out the Viper actually had a 220 lb passenger in the car.  Ouch.

Lamborghini Huracan crashes at 200mph on a public highway

0

CarThrottle.com:

“The combination of 200mph+ speeds and a change in the road surface caused the supercar – which was on Czech plates – to skip violently and lose traction. The Huracan first hit the left crash barrier and then the right barrier, after which the Lamborghini slid into a ditch on the side of the motorway.

After the Huracan crash, the 36-year-old male driver climbed out of the car and dragged his passenger out; the car burst into flames shortly after. The driver was taken to hospital in an ambulance, while the passenger was air-lifted with serious injuries.”

That’s pretty amazing that they both survived.

The sound of the new 2017 Ford GT supercar (Video)

The Ford Daytona Prototype that is currently prepping to run the 24 Hours of Daytona runs the same race-proven Ecoboost 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 that will be found in the upcoming 2017 Ford GT Supercar. This video will give you a pretty good idea of how the Ford GT will sound. Not bad, for a V6 – but it certainly isn’t a substitute for a screaming V8.
