The 2003 / 2004 SVT Cobra revolutionized the muscle car wars, because they came from the factory with a forged bottom end – capable of insane horsepower numbers while remaining reliable. John Coletti, – the chief engineer of SVT at the time – knew that he was on his way out at Ford, and as his last hoorah he gifted the Ford faithful with a car that had amazing potential. Even today, the cult following behind the 03/04 Cobra is substantial, and even higher mileage ‘Terminators’ for sale are still commanding a $20k price tag. Seeing 600-750 RWHP out of a stock-bottom-end 03/04 Cobra isn’t uncommon, making the car a must have for speed freaks and horsepower junkies.
All that to say that latest speculations is pointing to the fact that new 5.0 Coyote Mustang GT engine may take some notes from the 03/04 Cobra playbook, and offer us a bulletproof bottom capable of over 1,000 HP. This is significant in so many ways, but most notably it points to the idea that Ford is certainly planning forced induction from the factory, whether Turbo or Supercharger is still yet to be determined.

Additionally: “I also looked up rods and pistons and it’s getting a brand new part number for the pistons but the rods listed are the Boss rods” and “Crank is a new part number as well, ’15 block $999.00, ’15 crank $345.00.”
Tasca Parts: Yep, appears to be a factory reinforced block for ’15. And all Lee Ament notices is the software they’re using for the catalog these days.

Tasca Parts: Those prices are very much subject to change and anyone trying to swap this stuff into an earlier car will be breaking new ground. No clue what might be different.
