This is one nasty Twin-Turbo Ford GT

0

The Ford GT.  Ford’s flagship, exotic, supercharged 5.4-liter supercar – produced from 2005-2006.  It holds a special place in the world of supercars, especially considering it’s iconic racing heritage.  The Ford GT in particular is even more desirable these days since there was only a 2-year production run.

This example is a 1500+ HP Ford GT, and comes out of Performance Power Online camp.  Supposedly this exact Twin Turbo GT was the first ever street car to go over 250 MPH in the standing mile.  The sound of the exhaust certainly seems to back up it’s claims.

Enjoy the fire-spitting-turbo spool and hypnotizing V8 music.

Ouch: Watch this 2013 F10 BMW M5 smack the wall head-on at the ‘Ring

We love F10 M5’s, so this video is especially painful to watch.  Apparantly, this M5 was being run as ‘Ring Taxi’ – a car that paces the field around the course.

Regardless of how recoverable this slide looks, the end-result is still the same: the $120,000, Twin Turbo V8 makes head on contact with the steel barrier.  Even if the car is repaired, it will never be the same.

Jay Leno’s Garage reviews the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat

Jay Leno, sporting his trademark denim outfit – gets his hands on the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Hellcat.  This is a pretty informative review, including a full run down of the on-board widgets including performance meters, real time horsepower, etc – and then Jay caps off the end of the video with a smokey burnout that only the 707-HP Hellcat could pull off.

This is what flat-out looks like.

Reminds us of the craziness of the Isle of Mann TT.  Has the playback speed been  increased on this video?  You be the judge, but it’s entertaining nonetheless – and it’s definitely faster than we expected.

Clear valve covers installed on small-block hot rod

AWESOME.  Where can we get a set of these?  Half of the entertainment in this video comes from the awesome sound of the small block.  We would really like to see a mounted cam of the valve covers while the car is out on the streets, but we are happy with this.  Enjoy.

Description from YouTube:

“This is how a mechanic from Sawgrass Ford, Sunrise, FL. attempted to fix my car.

I had a small knock from the top of my engine, maybe carbon build up. The mechanic, instead of treating with chemicals(protocol), decided that it would be easier to run my car in first gear for 5 miles at redline. He discusses with another mechanic in the car how he would like to either fix it or blow it up. My expensive Shelby CS1 wheels were damaged along with the transmission during the time they had my car. There was rubber down the sides of my car and 80+ miles on my car from when the camera was shut off by the shop foreman.

I gave them 2 chances to repaint the wheels, until they had to replace them finally. They gave the car back to me with 3 new wheels and told me that they replaced 4, THEY LIED again. I spent much time trying for them to get my wheels balanced after that, and to top it off, now my transmission flare is considered normal to them, even though it was operating properly when I dropped it off, they refuse to fix it without an engine light code. My car is not shifting normally from 3rd to 4th gear now and sometimes loses the gear completely.
After over a month of time back and forth to the dealership, I have come to the conclusion that this will never get resolved and I am too scared and untrust worthy of this dealership to keep my car out of my site again.

I record in and out of my car at all times and my cameras are in clear site of view. The mechanics point out the camera and mention that it is possible that it is recording.
After all the issues I had with this dealership, the mechanic still has a job at this dealership servicing cars.
How I kept my cool, i do not know! My wheels have been replaced finally! They will not repair the transmission and I have the extended service plans.

What a shame!”

Which brings us to our conclusion: never take your car to Sawgrass Ford in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  Heck, this makes us not trust ANY mechanic – not that we ever did.

Tour of a (very clean) NASCAR Sprint Cup garage

0

Who would have known that these NASCAR Cup garages are as technologically advanced as they are?  What is especially surprising is the operating-room like cleanliness.  We think those garage floors are cleaner than our kitchen table.  And there isn’t a drop of oil or chew spit anywhere to be seen.

NASCAR has come a long way over the last 70 years, and this video exemplifies just that.  We have to admit, the sport has really impressed us in recent years.  The new ‘Gen6’ car, the resurgence of Dale Earnhardt Jr, the revised Chase format.

We hope the sport is headed for greater things in the future, because NASCAR is as American as it gets.

And this is why the Isle of Man TT will always be the most insane race on the planet (UPDATE)

We envy these guys.  This video kickstarts our adrenaline far better than coffee does in the morning.  A compilation of classic footage of the famed Isle of Man TT race, featuring riders that live in a completely different dimension then us.  These guys are running flat-out, pushing 200+ MPH for well over 35 miles – on nothing more than two wheels.  We tip our hat, braver men then us.

Both videos are well worth the watch.

Chris Harris takes on the 963hp LaFerrari

Chris Harris from /DRIVE gives us a sneak peak at this turn with the new LaFerrari.  This car is from another planet, and we love watching it being pushed to it’s limit.  The sound is intoxicating, and the technology is surreal.  He runs the car through the streets of Maranello, Italy – and then takes it to Ferrari’s own private test track.  You can subscribe to /DRIVE to watch the full review.

Is this the 2016 CTS-V?

We recently posted a video of the 2016 CTS-V testing at the ‘Ring.  From the video, we can confirm that the car will be supercharged, and will be running the same LT4 motor out of the C7 Z06.

However, this rendering by Car and Driver really gets our blood flowing.  We expect the power of this car to be channeled through an 8-speed transmission.

We expect to see this car in dealerships as a 2016 model, starting at $75,000
