Ford Motor Company finally revealed the highly anticipated Lincoln Continental Concept today. Lincoln is aiming directly for the Cadillac CT6, BMW 7-Series, Merecedes S-Class and Lexus LS460 Flagship Sedans, and it appears they may have a winner.
The focal point of this new luxury sedan is opulence. Lincoln claims this sedan uses “the brand’s most sensual materials ever, including Venetian leather seats and door panels, Alcantara on the seat inserts and armrests, a satin headliner and wool carpet”.
There was also a large emphasis placed on lighting, with an ambient illumination that radiates throughout the enitre cabin and “soft-gold” LED lights placed in the center console.
The Continental also features 30-way seats, and are said to mold to passengers’ different sizes and shapes. An emphasis was put on the rear seat passengers, though, tray tables,two-seat layout and a champagne storage compartment – and detachable, handmade Venetian leather travel cases.
It’s the sort of thing you’d expect in a long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class, and it proves Lincoln’s intent to reclaim its historic position among the world’s finest brands.
As for powertrain, the Continental may benefit from an all-new, 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 that is said to be “exclusive” to the Lincoln brand. Personally we are hoping for a 5.0 ‘Coyote’ based powerplant and rear wheel drive, but time will tell.
We can’t wait to see how this new Lincoln transforms into a production car next year.

NEW YORK, March 30, 2015 –Lincoln today introduces the Continental Concept, signaling an all-new full-size sedan coming next year and the future of quiet luxury.
Elegant, effortlessly powerful and serene, the Continental Concept blends meticulous craftsmanship and technologies designed to create better drivers and provide passengers with a more relaxing and entertaining environment inspired by first-class travel.
“Luxury at its best is about simplifying and quietly exceeding expectations, rather than being the loudest statement on the road,” said Mark Fields, Ford Motor Company president and CEO. “The Continental Concept showcases the promise of quiet luxury from Lincoln going forward. It also is a strong indication of what’s to come next year as we introduce our new Lincoln Continental full-size luxury sedan.”
With a sleek silhouette and a new centered chrome grille, the Continental Concept signals the arrival of a new face for Lincoln. A raised Lincoln badge is surrounded by a span of repeating polished aluminum Lincoln Star emblems.
E-Latch door handles tuck discreetly in the clean vehicle beltline. The door handle technology also provides for elegant entry. The doors open effortlessly with the touch of a button positioned on the underside of the door handle wings and close quietly.
“Some brands talk about ‘the machine,’ ” said Kumar Galhotra, Lincoln president. “Lincoln is different. For us, it is about more than the machine. It is about what our vehicles do for our clients.”
New technology is a hallmark of the vehicle. It starts with the vehicle sensing your approach and lighting up to greet you inside and out.
Outside, signature full-width tail lamps feature advanced light-through-chrome technology. Powerful LED matrix head lamps with laser-assist high beams reduce glare and improve visibility.
Rhapsody Blue metallic paint calls back Lincoln Continental’s signature color.
Inside are the brand’s most sensual materials ever, including Venetian leather seat and door panels, Alcantara® seat inserts and armrests, satin headliner and shearling wool carpet. Rose Gold trim around the instrument cluster provides warmth. Bright chrome trim on the instrument panel adds contrast.
Ambient lighting enhances the interior, creating a serene environment. Soft-gold LED lights glow from the center console and from the halo light overhead.
Patented 30-way Lincoln-designed seats use a new-to-market design that conforms to passengers’ sizes and shapes. The passenger-side rear seat can fully recline by moving the front passenger seat forward with the touch of a button.
From a panel mounted on the through-center console, rear passengers also can control climate settings and the Revel Ultima audio system, which allows passengers to select from three surround-sound modes: Stereo, Audience and On-Stage.
Rear-seat comfort is further highlighted by an SPD SmartGlass® tinting sunroof, which allows passengers to control heat from direct sunlight. With the touch of a button, the glass can cool the vehicle interior by as much as 18 degrees Fahrenheit, while blocking 99 percent of UV rays.
Rear-seat passengers also enjoy the convenience of a tablet-supporting lap tray that deploys from the through-center console. It also features a champagne storage compartment. Detachable, hand-crafted Venetian leather travel cases are mounted to the backside of the front seats.
Under the skin, the Continental Concept is powered by a Lincoln-exclusive 3.0-liter V6 EcoBoost® engine. It also features Lincoln Drive Control ride-enhancing technologies and Adaptive Steering. The car rides on polished-aluminum, painted-pocket 21-inch wheels.
Driver assist technologies include Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Enhanced Park Assist and a 360-degree camera that displays on the MyLincoln Touch™ screen.
“The Lincoln Continental name is associated with iconic beauty and elegance,” said David Woodhouse, Lincoln design director. “Capturing those qualities and building upon them drove us as we crafted this thoroughly modern sedan concept.”
The Lincoln Continental Concept is at the New York International Auto Show, which opens Wednesday for members of the news media.

Tragic has struck the Nurburgring raceway again today, this time an American spectator has lost his life after a Nissan GT-R Nismo became airborne and flew off the track. Four other spectators are in critical condition.
Yhe No. 23 Nissan GT-R went airborne at the Flugplatz section of the track. Video of the accident, which can be seen above, shows that the car lifted vertically before crashing through the safety fence and into a row of spectators.
Viewer Discretion is advised.
Press Release from Nurburgring Officials:
Today’s events have been a tragedy. We are all deeply shocked and saddened by these events and our immediate thoughts go to the deceased, those injured and their families and friends.
The team is fully co-operating with the race organisers to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into this incident.
The earth-rotating, 740+ HP GT500 is under development. Code-named by Ford as ‘King Kong’, this monster will boast a twin-turbocharged 5.0 ‘Coyote’ based powerplant.
Today, fresh video has emerged of Ford testing the 2017 Shelby GT500, and this ‘mule’ is disguised as a 2016 Shelby GT350 prototype.
It’s obvious by the exhaust tone in the video above that this is not the upcoming GT350’s Flat-Plane-Crank 5.2L V8 – and what better way to disguise the bigger, badder GT500 than to cloak it as a GT350 prototype?
It’s no secret that Ford has been driving completely undisguised GT350 prototypes around the Detroit area in recent months (proof below), so Ford has no reason to continue to camouflage the GT350 at this point.
As we reported earlier, Ford was recently caught testing GT500 ‘test mules’ at a local dragstrip. Rumors were swirling at the time that those mules may have run as fast as 10.96 @ 126 MPH, and ran those times consistently.
Ford is breathing life into a Hellcat-slamming, earth-rotating monster of a Mustang, and we will update you as we receive more intel on this upcoming Shelby GT500.
That’s it, we are buying only Pennzoil from this day forward.
We don’t know how this commercial relates to oil, but it’s awesome. This is hands-down, the best Hellcat ad we have seen. The whole thing is like a glorious punch to the face, and the supercharger whine is just incredible. No music, just the amazing sounds of the Hellcat motor.
This is proper marketing. Enjoy.
The Ferrari 488 GTB is the rightful successor to the 458 Italia. Powered by a new 3.9-liter V8 engine, twin-turbocharged V8 – the new stallion produces an impressive 660HP @ 8,000 RPM, and 560 lb-ft @ 3,000 RPM. The engine uses two turbochargers – and its displacement is 3,902 cc, or 3.9 liters or 238 cubic inches. Ferrari also claims a 0-60 time of just ‘under’ 3 seconds.
The 488 GTB gets to 125 MPH in just 8.3 seconds, which is a second faster than the 458 Speciale.
Ferrari also claims the top speed is ‘at least’ 205 MPH. At Fiorano (Ferrari’s private test track), the 488 GTB is a full second quicker than the 458 Speciale, and over two seconds faster than the 458 Italia it replaces.

The recently-debuted 2016 Shelby Mustang GT350R will having a starting MSRP of $69,995, per sources at Ford. That is nearly a $20,000 upgrade over the ‘base’ Shelby GT350, which will be priced “around the $50,000 mark” (our source tells us $52,995), and our bet is that the extra cost for the ‘R’ model will be well worth it.
The $70,000 mark is an important one, because it undercuts the track-bred Camaro Z/28, which has a starting MSRP of $75,000. The GT350 and GT350R were both developed with the Z/28 as the victim target, and we think Ford has developed a worth adversary.
The ‘R’ package adds significant track-focused technology to the base GT350, including MagneRide Suspension and better tires, all while reducing weight. Thanks to Carbon Fiber Wheels and a Rear Seat Delete, the GT350R will tip the scales some 150 lbs lighter than the base GT350. We can’t wait to see some real world numbers, stay tuned.

This car is a time machine, except faster.
The Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 is a beautiful machine, and as the video shows us – it has the performance to back it up.
The new LP 610-4 reaches 0-60 in just 2.8s, that is faster than a Nissan GT-R. This new Lambo also boasts comparable numbers to the likes of the LaFerrari, Porsche 918 and McLaren P1 – and the Huracan pulls it off for a fraction of the price ($280,000), and does so while remaining naturally aspirated. Pure motor. Does that make this new Lamborghini the perfect supercar? We think so. Enjoy.
