The sound of the normal 911 Cup cars is already awesome (mostly the transmission sounds), but the whoosh of those big turbos made that video even more incredible.
The video/audio editing was on point as well. Amazing driving – that symphony of transmission/turbo – and the Colorado scenery certainly helps, but you gotta give respect to the person that spent a whole day editing that into a great video to watch
Honda has announced today that they will resurrect the S2000 sports car, and it will rival the new Mazda MX-5. Autocar reports that the new S2000 could be powered by a turbocharged 1.5 and 2.0-litre engines; and a Type R version is possible.
The original Honda S2000 made it’s debut in 1999, and had a solid 10-year run – concluding in 2009. During it’s decade long tenure, the S2000 established a reputation as a nimble, yet powerful car.
We’ll keep you posted, but in the meantime – head over to Autocar for a more detailed writeup.
The Ford GT has 650RWHP, and it takes on the new Tesla Model S P90D in ‘Ludicrous’ mode. Keep in mind the Tesla is All-Wheel-Drive, compared to the Rear Wheel Drive of the Ford GT.
Still, despite only have two seats and no storage space, we’ll take the Ford GT.
From the video description:
“Warning: This video shows a high horsepower Shelby Mustang GT500 losing control at a car show. The car turns sideways and hits a brand new Ram 1500 truck in the rear, crosses a grassy area, and hits a New Edge Mustang GT. The owner/driver of the GT500 went to the local hospital by ambulance. NONE of the airbags deployed.”
Any way you look at it, this is one less 2014 Shelby GT500, and that’s sad. The wheels were horrible though.
Fortunately there was no passenger riding in the car, that was a pretty hard hit.
Here it is folks, the first Dodge Charger Hellcat to hit 9 seconds in the quarter mile. 9.710 @ 140.39 mph.
This Hellcat has a tune, Upper/Lower pulley combo making close to 18psi, along with stock exhaust, stock intake, and the cats were removed from the mid-pipe. 180 degree t-stat, stock stall converter and sticky tires.
As dangerous as this looks, this is still awesome to watch. The raw power of the S1000RR is amazing (198 HP – on a bike). Notice how easily the front end comes off the ground when the rider rolls the grip. And the F40? Timeless.
The 2016 ACR Viper has already cracked off a ridiculously-fast 7:01.67 lap at the Nurburgring, and the SRT team pulled off this feat back in early October of 2015.
Per our source, the SRT team arrived at the track ‘unofficially’ and largely presented themselves as private owners of the 2016 ACR Viper.
If true, a 7:01.67 lap time is over 10 seconds faster then the previous generation ACR. 10 seconds. If Viper production really is going to end in 2017, then the guys at SRT are giving their legendary snake a proper send-off.
For reference, here is a video from 2011 of veteran GT driver Dominik Farnbacher wrestling the last-generation Viper ACR to a 7:12.130 hotlap at the Nurburgring.
Original article posted by HPK in January of 2015, updated in November.
The 2016 Shelby GT350R has clocked a blistering-fast 7:32.19 at the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife. That’s nearly 5 seconds faster than the Camaro Z/28’s well-groomed 7:37.40 time, and even a second faster than a Porsche 997 GT3 RS MKII.
According to the fresh report, the GT350R clocked this time back in September of 2014, and was “easily repeatable”. The (trusted) source also claims that the ‘base’ GT350 is “within a few seconds” of the ‘R’ package, but no specific lap times were given for the base model.
The GT350R is a pretty substantial upgrade over the GT350. The ‘R’ package gets a unique chin splitter, an aluminum rear bumper beam, and “unique performance chassis tuning” as standard equipment. On top of all the Track Package goodies that come optional on the base GT350, you also get MagneRide magnetic dampers, a wider front track, increased spring rates, and a lowered ride height, coolers for the engine/transmission/differential, and selectable drive modes. Not to mention massive 15.5″ carbon-ceramic rotors clamped by six-piston Brembo calipers.
But what really sets the GT350R apart is what lies wrapped in the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires: Carbon-fiber wheels – which are standard on the GT350R, making Ford the first major manufacturer to introduce this technology as standard equipment. These race wheels shave 52 pounds off the GT350R’s total weight, while providing higher levels of stiffness compared to aluminum rims.
Listen how Motor Trend winds this car up to eternity. As you know, Ford’s new 5.2L “Voodoo” motor has a 8,300 RPM redline. It is an impressive motor, but to us – we were never sold on the exhaust note. Maybe it is growing on us, because this car is sounding better and better to us.
Fortunately, it looks like the GT350 is living up to the hype. We can’t wait to see what the ‘R’ can do on-track. Enjoy the video above.
