The 2018 F-150 Raptor will become the beneficiary of the coming EcoBoost 5.0 V8, according to insider sources at Ford – and we may even see the V8 make it’s way into the truck for the 2017 debut.

“The Raptor, packaged with the EcoBoost 5.0 V8, will be irresistible – and Ford knows it.”, claims our insider.

“The EcoBoost 5.0 V8 program has been under development for a several years, and first made it’s public appearance in the Cobra Jet program in late-2012. The underlying purpose of the EcoBoost V8 project was to power the next-gen GT500. The 5.2L FPC program contributed to delaying the 5.0 EcoBoost program, but this V8 Twin-Turbo program is now on track again, and will make it’s debut in the next GT500 and 2018 F-150 Raptor, and could possibly become a second-motor option for the 2017 model year Raptor”

We are also told that the new 10-speed automatic transmission that will be found in the 2016 3.5L V6 EcoBoost Raptor will be the same transmission utilized in the V8 Raptor, whether it goes on sale as a 2017 model year, or 2018.

“The Raptor will ultimately be a two-motor truck – that was the plan all along – much like you have the option for the EcoBoost V6 or 5.0 V8 in other F-150 models. Ford knows there is a market for both powertrains, and wants to capitalize in both realms. Ford is really pushing the V6 EcoBoost program, and thought it was a great opportunity to debut both the Ford GT and Raptor with the 3.5L EcoBoost platform in Detroit, but make no mistake that the Twin Turbo V8 is on it’s way – I’m just not sure if we will see it in the 2017 Raptor, or the 2018.”

What is really interesting, we are told – is that this Twin-Turbo V8 could possibly make it’s way into other models of the Ford lineup. What could Ford stuff the EcoBoost V8 into, aside from the GT500 and Raptor?

“Ford has thrown quite a bit of resources and R&D into this V8 EcoBoost program, so don’t be surprised if you see it in other vehicles within Ford Performance in the future.”

Our guess is we will see the motor in other F-150 models, such as the FX4, Lariat and Platinum – possibly even the Super Duty models as an alternative to the 6.7L Powerstroke Diesel.

Insane Race! 2000HP UGR Lamborghini Gallardo takes on a Kawasaki Ninja H2

The speeds involved in this race are absolutely insane. Watch as this Underground Racing Lamborghini Gallardo – making over 2,000HP – takes on a Kawasaki H2R liter bike with it’s top down! Yes – the same H2R that is factory supercharged and has a 220+ MPH top speed.

The Kawasaki is factory supercharged, but this bike has minimal bolt on mods and dyno’d 245 rwhp. Check out this vid of it at the strip. On the 2nd pass the wheelies are vicious…

Matt Farah takes on the new Mustang Shelby GT350R

Matt Farah provides yet another detailed and insightful review into the new Mustang Shelby GT350R. As you all know, the 5.2L V8 in this new track weapon produces a staggering 526-HP out if it’s naturally-aspirated, flat-plane crank V8. And is this car isn’t attractive enough, it makes most of that power at around 8,300 RPM. And this car can lay down some incredible track times, and competes with cars worth 4x that of the MSRP of this GT350R. This car is special, and we can’t get enough of it. We hope you enjoy Matt’s video review above.

Twin Turbo Mustang – 526 Cubic Inches, Twin 105MM Turbos!

This small-tire notch Fox body Mustang is running Twin 105MM Turbos, strapped to a 526 Cubic Inch Big Block, built by Proline Racing Motors. This car is making incredible amounts of horsepower all on the small tire, SCREAMING down the track at low 3.90 1/8th mile passes! Enjoy

Head to Head Test: 2015 BMW M4 vs. 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D87tO7VUs2I

Why is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS taking on the BMW M4? Well, if you remember correctly, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS was awarded the coveted “Car of the Year” title last year by Motor Trend. But, can it knock the mighty BMW M4 off it’s throne? It should also be noted that the BMW is $80,000, and has cloth seats. Just sayin’.

American is on fire right now with their cars. On one hand, you’ve got GM destroying all the Europeans with the Z06 and new Camaro. You also have Cadillac – which is now on par with Mercedes/BMW/Audi, and some would argue that they are even better.

Ford is doing black magic with their EcoBoost motors on the Focus RS and Fiesta/Focus ST. The new GT350R is amazing in every way, and the new Ford GT is just insane (even for a V6). The new F-150 Raptor will be amazing too.

America has stepped up and is beating everyone at a better price.

These dragsters really blur the line between car & go kart, and we’re okay with that.

What we love about these cars is that there is basically just enough tube framing to hold the exterior panels in place as to give the illusion that it’s a full car. When in actuality it’s a giant go kart with a cool shell. It should also be noted that these things run 10’s. Very impressive.

Also, very noticeable are the balls of brass of that guy racing just wearing freaking shorts in a car where you can see the road by your feet.

The Bandit is Back

These cars are all sold out already, and that doesn’t surprise us at all. You really have to nail the design of a Trans Am throwback car in order for it to look right, and these guys pulled it off in spectacular fashion.

The iconic Smokey and the Bandit movie made it’s debut in 1977, and to pay homage to that movie, only 77 of these 840-HP cars will be built. We’ll take two, in Black, please.

Underground Racing TT Lamborghini Huracan runs 7.80 during record 1/4 Mile Pass

Remember that Lamborghini Huracan in the low 8’s last week? It just ran 7.80 with a new clutch and increased power.

Just last week, this same Underground Racing Huracan ran 8.55 in the 1/4 mile. Since then, the UGR crew has made a few changes and got it right back out there on track.

This time with Dodson’s newest 10-plate clutch setup. When Dodson told UGR how much power the clutch setup should hold, they decided to upgrade the car to the 2R level that makes approximately 1,800 WHP.

Remember, this 7 second street car with 19 inch drag radials. Super impressive. Enjoy

Watch this Mustang explode into a Nitrous inferno

It looks like a nitrous line exploded and quickly caused this Ford Mustang to burst into flames in an unfortunate turn of events. Nitrous fires are nothing to mess around with, as you can see in the video above – look how quickly the car becomes engulfed. Fortunately, it appears the driver was not harmed.

It should be noted that Drag racing can be very dangerous, and this video shows how your race car can be destroyed in seconds. Unfortunately the safety crew couldn’t get this fire put out in time and the car was destroyed.
