Check out this 2014 Viper take on another Viper.  As far as we know, the orange Viper is running an intake, tune (by Unleashed Tuning), headers exhaust and is making 607 RWHP – and the charcoal Viper is completely stock.  It’s amazing how these cars respond to basic modifications.  Enjoy the video.

Matt Farah convinces us that we need to own a 2015 Mustang GT

Matt Farah from ‘The Smoking Tire’ takes a 2015 Mustang GT 5.0 out on track at Willow Springs and convinces us that the new 5.0 delivers amazing bang-for-buck performance, and it’s quite a bit faster than the EcoBoost model as well – but hopefully you are not surprised by this.

Although the new Mustang GT is slightly heavier than the 2014 model, Ford offers us a more refined, luxurious Mustang for 2015. The car in the video is equipped with the optional ‘Performance Pack’, but lacks the optional Recaro seats.

We’ll take one in Black, please.

Pro Mod Drag Racer escapes injury after violent crash

Thank God that the driver survived and anybody in the pits was seriously injured.

Long time drag racer Jerry Yeoman was recently involved in the barrel roll crash in the video above. The car rolled 14x before it finally came to a rest. Despite the massive negative G-forces, the driver survived to race another day, despite having some pretty serious injuries.

Dodge blows us away with their new commercials

This new commercial from Dodge adds fuel to our Mopar fire. Dodge has been on point lately with their ad campaign. We also love this new Charger commercial:

As Mopar fans, we approve this ad.

And lest we forget, the modern Challenger commercial that started it all:

2,000HP Alpha Omega Nissan GTR acceleration will blow your mind. Reset’s its own world record ¼ mile pass.

What a ridiculous car and a ridiculous time. We are curious how much speed is actually in the car with a clean launch and pass?

Oh, by the way: 0-60 MPH in 1.5 Seconds. 2,000 HP. 6G’s of acceleration. It’s also impressive to see a GT-R doing wheelies down the 1/4 mile.

2015 Ford Mustang GT takes on 2015 Chevrolet Camaro SS

The Mustang and the Camaro have never been better.

In this comparison, Carlos Lago of ‘Head 2 Head’ pits the 2015 Camaro SS 1LE against the 2015 Mustang GT w/ the Performance Pack. Both cars are equipped with their optional, respective performance packages. As usual, the Mustang is slightly faster in a straight line, and the Camaro seems to handle slightly better in the twisties.

Our conclusion is that some stiffer springs will do alot to help the Mustang, as it suffers from a case of body roll, atleast relative to the Camaro. We also think the 1LE has a slight tire advantage as well.

They are both great cars, regardless of your loyalty to Ford or Chevy. After all, they are both built in America, and that makes us proud.

Enjoy the video above, and feel free to share your thoughts below.

Insane Nitrous S1000RR pulls hard on 1000HP Porsche

This is just nuts. This guy takes an already ridiculously fast BMW S1000RR and decides to inject nitrous into it’s veins. He then gets on the bike to run head to head against a +1000AWHP Porsche, all while wearing a T-shirt, no less. Notice him trying to keep the front end down at over 150+ MPH.

We think you are crazy, rocket man – but we respect you.

McLaren P1 vs. Porsche 918 Spyder vs. Ducati 1199 Superleggera – drag race

McLaren P1 takes on the exotic Ducati 1199 & Porsche 918 on a one mile run – and the results are interesting. Too bad the almighty Ferrari LaFerrari does not make an appearance, as it is the only other ‘hypercar’ not in the video.

Enjoy the two exotic hybrids going head to head in the video above.

Tesla’s new Model S P85D has 691 HP, 687 ft-lbs of Torque – and will do 0-60 In 3.2 Seconds

0

Here is the deal with the new Tesla Model S P85D:

It’s an update to the current Model S. It serves to bring the Model S closer to other cars in its class (particularly the S63 AMG and M5 in our opinion), instead of being an entirely new concept or innovation. It is expected to be available in February 2015 as an optional variant to the Model S.

  • Will have two separate motors, in front and rear of car.
  • 0-60 MPH in 3.2 Seconds (a full second faster than the P85)
  • 691 HP.  Yes, 691 HP.
  • 687 ft-lbs Torque
  • Updated dual-motor
  • 1G of lateral acceleration
  • AWD
  • Increased performance (top of the line P85D, 691 HP and 0-60 in 3.2 seconds) and range (+10 miles per charge)
  • Updated safety features
  • Rudimentary “autopilot” features, including lane tracking assistance, self-parking, automatic braking.
  • $120,000.  Worth it.

Two seperate motors means you’ve got an additional motor for regen, sending additional power back into the battery pack for more range/distance.

Secondly, by optimizing the usage of each motor down to the millisecond depending on the traction available, Tesla’s geeks have been able to tweak the software to use the right motor at the right time at the right speed, all to boost efficiency and performance.

Both cars also don’t suffer the same weight penalty since they’re each using the smaller motors, so overall tonnage is only up by 176 pounds, and 0-60 times have dropped by 0.2 seconds. To add the extra motor to each car brings the price up only by $4,000.

Tesla is taking orders on all the D models tonight, with deliveries of the P85D happening before the end of the year and the standard 85 and 60 models coming in February.

Elon Musk for President.

Sources: Ford IS working on a new Ford GT supercar, will also return to race at Le Mans

0

Ford will be returning to Le Mans in 2016 to go head to head with Ferrari, and will also reveal an all new Ford GT supercar, possibly as soon as the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

This is a very big deal.

What kind of powerplant can we expect to see? Nothing is set in stone, but our source claims that Ford is “working very hard” on a high-horsepower, EcoBoost platform – possibly in the form of a V6.  We’re not sure how we feel about that, but lets just hope that Ford wises up and debuts the car with a Twin Turbo 5.0 Coyote platform, but we shall see.

“Recent meetings between GTE constructors on 2016 rules were witnessed at the Circuit of The Americas, and have included a high-ranking representative affiliated with Ford, and based on additional feedback, a launch of the Ford GT 24 Hours of Le Mans project would coincide with the introduction of the successor to the Ford GT, which ceased production in 2007. . “

Why 2016? It coincides with the 50th anniversary of Ford’s victory at Le Mans with the Ford GT40 Mark II, so it would be the perfect opportunity to take the fight to the Corvette and Ferrari in LeMans, France.

We are skeptical, as we have yet to see any type of prototypes testing, or concept images, etc – but our source is reliable, so let’s be patient.  We’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
