2015 Corvette Z06 chases McLaren P1 during track day at Circuit of the Americas

First, we’ve gotta say Chevrolet’s track video system is the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. It measures everything! Second, the McLaren P1 just goes into warp drive once there is open track in front of it. The acceleration of the P1 is just brutal. And although it could be driver skill, the C7 Z06 does appear to keep up well enough in the turns, but just gets smoked on the straightaways. Anyways, it’s amazing seeing these two, very different machines, on the same track together.

We are convinced that the new SRT Viper is greatest American car ever built. And here is the world’s first SRT Viper T/A, and it’s making 1,042RWHP @ 9.5PSI. It’s amazing how much HP at makes at such low boost.

Built by RSI Racing Solutions, this Viper is still running the stock motor. Makes us wonder how much power/boost the stock bottom end can handle.

Mamma Mia! Check out this fresh video of Sebastian Vettel wrestling the new LaFerrari FXXK around the Fiorano circuit today. As we all know, the new FXXK is powered by Alien Technology, so it’s no surprise it hotlaps the circuit resembling an all-out Formula 1 car, and it sounds like one too.

That 90’s rave music really set the scene.

Thermal cameras should be available for broadcasting all sorts of motorsport. Heck, it would even make normal sports more interesting too.

It’s also kinda interesting how well insulated the hood is. Stays purple the whole time we can see it while everything under it is bright yellow. That and the heat spots on the bed from the tires.

Regardless, sans the music, that is one of the most amazing videos we have ever seen.

We didn’t think it was possible, but from the silhouette the Camaro looks even more like a Hot Wheels car then it did before. Regardless, we are excited to see the 2016 Camaro, and we are curious to see how Chevy will keep the Muscle Car wars alive. Rumors of a 720+ HP ZL1 are swirling. Ford must know what’s up, because word is they are working on a 740+ HP GT500 as well. It’s a good time to be alive.

Finally – Bone Stock 2015 Corvette Z06 goes 10.9 @ 127 MPH

We have finally witnessed new 2015 Z06 break into the 10’s, and he did it with a seven-speed manual.

Even the most dedicated haters have got to get props to that. The Z51 and Z06 actually assist the driver with no-lift shifting. The PCM/ECU will prevent bouncing off the rev limiter, as long as you keep the throttle planted.

For the record, the C6 Z06 – on drag radials – has gone a best of 10.79. The fastest run by a C6 Z06 on stock tires is 10.94 – so this C7Z already beat the C6Z time, and they have only been out for about two months. They’ll just get faster from here.

Also, we thought at first he was running a slick/worn out drag radial, but under close inspection – it’s a Michelin tire which has the tread completely worn off. Credit to the driver of the Z for the awesome time and 60′ time.

Finally! Corvette Z07 vs. Challenger Hellcat vs. Shelby GT500

All cars were 100% stock, and were all manual-transmission cars.

Great video, but we would like to see all three of them all on drag radials so there’s no traction issue. Regardless, it was awesome seeing all three of these cars in a race. Hope we’ll see the GT500 vs Hellcat race pretty soon – because in the video above, it actually looked like the 2014 GT500 was pulling on the Hellcat…just sayin’.




Nissan GT-R experiences the consequences of understeer

Looks like he was coming in way too hot and hit the brakes. Hopefully the driver is okay, that cabin looked pretty mashed.

Even though understeer is somewhat shortchanging a driver on potential change of direction, we see the value in concentrating vehicle impact safety systems forward and then loading the dice a bit to create a likelihood of directing impacts where the safety systems can do the most good. Accident avoidance is better than mere accident survival but in the case of unavoidable accidents, survival seems nicer than its alternative.

This dude was driving too hard for the car and conditions and here are the results. Good for all of us to see and understand for our own safety.
