NHRA Mello-Yello Drag Racing.  Pure Nitro methane awesomeness.  When something goes wrong with these dragsters, it goes wrong in a big way.  A Top Fuel car, for example, will run from a stop all the way up to 320+ MPH in around 4 seconds.  What’s even crazier, is that the Funny Car will run close to that same speed – but the 12,000+ HP Nitro engine is placed directly in front of the driver.

The superchargers require 300+ HP just to TURN over, and when they blow up – they require Kevlar straps to keep them attached to the engine so they don’t blast into orbit.

Drag Racing may be one of the last form of pure motorsport in the sense that these drivers require a wheelbarrow just to walk around due to the size of their balls.  These guys risk life and limb arguably more than any other racing driver, our hats off to them.
