Austin Dillon is OK this morning after surviving a horrifying crash at the finish of the Coke Zero 400.
As Dale Jr cross the line for the win, the pack behind him gets bunched, causing the #3 of Austin Dillon to take flight and fly off into the catch fence.
Fortunately the safety fence did it’s job and kept the spectators safe, although there were reports of three spectators suffering minor injuries.
The Coke Zero 400 at Daytona, which was delayed because of rain, did not finish until about 3 AM local time. A faithful 50,000+ spectators watched the race from the grandstands, despite the 12AM start time. Unfortunately Dale Earnhardt Jr’s victory was overshadowed by such a violent wreck at the finish. We are just grateful nobody was seriously injured.
